OptoDataLink service may crash when stopping links

Applies To:

OptoDataLink

Versions Affected:

R10.5a (may affect earlier versions)

Resolved In Version:

R10.5b

Symptoms:

When you attempt to stop data links from either OptoDataLink Monitor or OptoDataLink Configurator, the OptoDataLink service may crash. Restarting OptoDataLinkRuntime does not resolve the issue; if you again attempt to stop the data links, the OptoDataLink service crashes again.

Workaround:

After OptoDataLinkRuntime crashes:

  1. Navigate to the PAC Project installation directory.
  2. Locate a file named runtime.xml and delete this file from one of the following locations:
    • For R10.5b and lower, it is typically in your PAC Project installation directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Opto22\PAC Project {version}\runtime.xml
    • For R10.5c and higher: C:\ProgramData\Opto 22\PAC Project\OptoDataLink\runtime.xml
  3. Restart the OptoDataLinkRuntime service:
    1. Open Windows Task Manager and click the Services tab (or start Windows Services).
    2. Find OptoDataLinkRuntime in the list of services, right-click it, and then click Start.
  4. Start your links.
NOTE: A runtime.xml file will only exist when the data flows are running.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
