Analog groov RIO channels and undetected discrete groov modules report quality code 0 instead of 30

Applies To:

Firmware for the following groov EPICs:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • GRV-EPIC-PR2
Firmware for the following groov RIOs:
  • GRV-R7-MM1001-10
  • GRV-R7-MM2001-10

Versions Affected:

For groov EPICs: All versions prior to 3.4.0
For groov RIOs: All versions prior to 3.4.0

Resolved In Version:

For groov EPICs: 3.4.0
For groov RIOs: 3.4.0

Symptoms:

If groov EPIC cannot detect a discrete groov module (either input or output), the quality code reports 0 instead of 30.

For groov RIO modules, if a channel is configured for analog (either input or output) and you read the channel quality detail from the Expanded Digital Channel Read area, it should report quality code 30. With this issue, it reports 0.

Workaround:

For groov EPICs, to obtain information about the quality of a discrete channel, read the following from the Quality of Data section of the memory map:

  • Read the bitmask at 0xF100 2000 to determine which modules have at least one channel reporting a quality code.
  • Read the quality code of a specific discrete channel.
  • For details, see the “Quality of Data–Read Only” section of Appendix A of the OptoMMP Protocol Guide (form 1465).
For groov RIOs, if you want to obtain the quality code of an analog channel, make sure you are reading from the Expanded Analog Channel Read area.
