groov EPIC processor may become unresponsive when writing to the memory map

Applies To:

Firmware for the following groov EPICs:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • GRV-EPIC-PR2

Versions Affected:

All versions prior to 3.2.2

Resolved In Version:

3.2.2

Symptoms:

On rare occasions, when you write to the memory map configuration area for the following list of groov I/O modules, the groov EPIC processor may lock up or reset:

  • GRV-IAC-24
  • GRV-IACI-12
  • GRV-IACDCTTL-24
  • GRV-IACHV-24
  • GRV-IACIHV-12
  • GRV-IDC-24
  • GRV-IDCI-12
  • GRV-IDCIFQ-12
  • GRV-IDCSW-12
  • GRV-IICTD-12
  • GRV-IMA-24
  • GRV-IMAI-8
  • GRV-ITM-12
  • GRV-ITMI-8
  • GRV-ITR-12
  • GRV-IV-24
  • GRV-IVI-12
  • GRV-IVIRMS-24
  • GRV-OAC-12
  • GRV-OACI-12
  • GRV-ODCI-12
  • GRV-ODCSRC-24
  • GRV-OVMAILP-8
  • GRV-OVMALC-8
  • GRV-CCANI-2
  • GRV-CSERI-4

Symptoms of a lock up include:
  • Module status LED on all modules turns red
  • Touch screen becomes unresponsive
  • No Ethernet communication
  • The groov EPIC processor resets

Workaround:

  • Configure the listed modules only once.
  • Minimize writes to the memory map configuration area for the modules listed above.  Do not repetitively write to these areas.
  • For a list of the affected memory map addresses, see the "(Expanded) Analog & Digital Channel Configuration—Read/Write" section of the OptoMMP Protocol Guide. The starting address of this section of the memory map is 0xF0100000.
