PAC Control: Changing type of I/O unit for a subroutine parameter causes parameter to disappear and compile errors

Applies To:

  • PAC Control Basic
  • PAC Control Professional

Versions Affected:

R10.0 to R10.5a

Resolved In Version:

R10.5b

Symptoms:

If a parameter of a subroutine has an I/O unit as the type (for example, SNAP-PAC-R1), and then you change the I/O unit to another type (for example, GRV-EPIC-PR1), you may observe the following behaviors:

  • The parameter disappears from the strategy tree.
  • When you compile the subroutine, there will be errors.
This issue occurs when you are editing a subroutine created before a newer I/O unit was available (for example, a subroutine created before GRV-EPIC-PR1 was released).

Workaround:

Try one of the following:

  • Rewrite the subroutine in the latest version of PAC Control
  • Replace the old parameter with a new parameter:
    1. Create a new parameter with the desired type of I/O unit.
    2. Change all references of the old parameter to refer to the new parameter
    3. Remove the old parameter.
    4. Change the position of the new parameter to be that of the old parameter.
