If RIO Channels Changed from One Supported Combination to Another Supported Combination, Errors may be Reported

Applies To:

Firmware for:

  • GRV-EPIC-PR1
  • SoftPAC

Versions Affected:

For GRV-EPIC-PR1 Firmware: All versions prior to 2.0.2
For SoftPAC Firmware: R10.3a to current

Resolved In Version:

For GRV-EPIC-PR1 Firmware: 2.0.2
For SoftPAC Firmware: R10.3b

Symptoms:

On a GRV-R7-MM1001-10, channels 0-3 cannot combine discrete sinking outputs with thermocouple inputs. In PAC Control, if you:

  • download and run a strategy that configures channels 0-3 with one valid combination (for example, all of them are 5-30 VDC Digital Output), and then
  • modify the strategy to configure channels 0-3 to another valid combination (for example, all of them are Type J Thermocouple),
when you download the modified strategy, you may see one or more "I/O point mismatch" errors in the controller's message queue and your I/O configuration may end up as one of the following:
  • Same as the combination specified in the original strategy.
  • Different from the original strategy but not as specified in the modified strategy.

Workaround:

Workaround through a combination of groov Manage and PAC Control

  1. Log into your GRV-R7-MM1001-10 with a user ID that has administrator privileges.
  2. From the groov Manage Home page, click I/O Config, then click Reset I/O to Defaults to clear the I/O configuration.
  3. In PAC Control, download and run strategy with the desired configuration.
Workaround through only PAC Control
  1. Create a strategy that configures channels 0-3 as digital inputs.
  2. Switch to Debug mode. If PAC Control displays the Download Warning - Strategy Mismatch window, click Yes.
  3. Run the strategy.
  4. Switch back to Config mode.
  5. Open the strategy with the desired configuration.
  6. Switch to Debug mode. If PAC Control displays the Download Warning - Strategy Mismatch window, click Yes.
  7. Run the strategy.
