The OPC UA tag browser allows you to assign unsupported tags to gadgets

Applies To:

groov View running on:

  • GROOV-AR1, GROOV-AR1-BASE, GROOV-AR1-SNAP
  • GROOV-AT1, GROOV-AT1-SNAP
  • GROOV-SVR-WIN, GROOV-SVR-WIN-BASE, GROOV-SVR-WIN-SNAP
  • GRV-EPIC-PR1

Versions Affected:

4.2a to current

Symptoms:

The OPC UA tag browser allows you to assign unsupported tags to gadgets. If you assign a tag with an unsupported data type (for example, dates or times) to a gadget, you may run into problems when you run your groov View project; for example, the gadget may not respond or it may prevent page navigation. You may see this more prevalently in tags from CODESYS applications.

Workaround:

If you added this type of gadget to your groov View project and your project is not responding in groov View:

  1. Switch to Build mode.
  2. When groov View indicates there is a problem (for example, it displays an error message and the Build mode window looks blank), refresh the browser. groov View reloads Build mode.
  3. Select and delete the gadget, then save the pages immediately (click File > Save All Changes). You may have to refresh one more time to completely clear the issue.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
