GRV-EPIC-PR1 cannot communicate to remote I/O or remote hosts

Applies To:

Firmware for GRV-EPIC-PR1

Versions Affected:

All versions prior to 1.4.0

Resolved In Version:

1.4.0

Symptoms:

If the network interface on a GRV-EPIC-PR1 is configured as "Manual (static)" and if the PR1 hostname is not fully qualified, then the PR1 will not be able to communicate with target hostnames in the same domain as the PR1 network interface.

The most common place you will see this is when running a PAC Control strategy that has remote I/O; the strategy will not be able to access the remote I/O.

Notes: A fully-qualified hostname would look like "myhost.example.com". A simple hostname would look like "myhost". The default hostname of a GRV-EPIC-PR1 is a simple hostname and typically follows this format: "opto-xx-yy-zz".

Workaround:

Do either of the following:

  • Change the hostname of the GRV-EPIC-PR1 to a fully-qualified hostname. From groov Home, click or tap System > Network. Click or tap Configure. Change the simple hostname (for example, mypr1) to a fully-qualified hostname (for example, mypr1.company.com).
  • Check your DHCP server. If it does not set a default domain name, configure it to set default domain name.
