Production Specification

The SNAP-AIV-4 provides four channels of analog voltage input. Each channel can be configured for -10 to +10 VDC or -5 to +5 VDC operation. Although the four channels are not isolated from each other, the module is transformer isolated and optically isolated from other modules and devices.

Part of the SNAP PAC System, the module mounts on a SNAP PAC rack with a SNAP PAC brain or rack-mounted controller. Analog, digital, and serial I/O modules can all be on the same rack. Such an I/O unit is also well suited for PC-based control or for use as intelligent remote I/O for an Allen-Bradley Logix PLC system, such as ControlLogix, MicroLogix, or CompactLogix.

In addition to SNAP PAC brains and R-series controllers, this module can also be used with legacy SNAP Ethernet-based brains.

  • A similar two-channel module that can be used with SNAP serial brains: SNAP-AIV.
  • A 32-channel module that can be used with SNAP PAC brains and R-series controllers only: SNAP-AIV-32.

At the University of California, Irvine, Scientist Dr. John Garman and a team of his engineering students use an Opto 22 SNAP PAC System in their research of coal and biomass combustion. The SNAP PAC hardware controls the coal feed rate into an entrained flow reactor, monitors thermocouples that feed back process control data, monitors emissions, and acquires and logs data on operating conditions within the reactor.
