SNAP-SCM-485-422 not recognized after 'Restart I/O unit from powerup' from PAC Manager

Applies To:

SNAP-SCM-485-422

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: R1.1o
Resolution is included beginning in version: B2.0a

Symptoms:

After issuing the command Tools→Inspect→Status Write→Restart I/O unit from powerup from PAC Manager, a SNAP-PAC brain does not recognize a SNAP-SCM-485-422 module configured for 4-wire mode.

To duplicate the problem:

  1. Use PAC Manager to configure the Mode of Operation for a SNAP-SCM-485-422 to 4-wire mode. Access this area from Tools→Inspect→Communications→Serial Modules. Notice the Module Type shows 0xF1.
  2. Issue the Tools→Inspect→Status Write→Store configuration to flash command.
  3. Issue the Tools→Inspect→Status Write→Restart I/O unit from powerup command.
  4. Check the Module Type. It now shows 0xF3. Notice the 4-wire configuration field is not shown.

Workaround:

Turn the power supply to the rack off and then back on. The Module Type shows 0xF1 again, and the Mode of Operation field correctly shows 4-wire.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue and will include the fix in an upcoming release.
