PAC Display recipe file formatting allowing >2048 consecutive table elements may cause problems

Applies To:

PAC Display Professional
PAC Display Basic

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: R8.0i
Problem is fixed in version: R8.0k

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in version: R8.0k

Symptoms:

PAC Display is not enforcing the 2048 consecutive, table element limit on recipe Upload or Download format files. This may cause PAC Display to have problems properly operating, sometimes resulting in PAC Display crashing. For more information about these problems, see OptoKB KB58575.

For example, you could have a recipe file that downloads 10,000 consecutive table elements.

/This recipe file violates the 2048 CONSECUTIVE element limit.
/(Notice there are 10,000 consecutive elements)

    10.192.54.68:String Table.String_Table
    0:
    1:
    2:
    3:
    4:
.. (consecutive continuation of recipe file)
    9997:
    9998:
    9999:

    / End of File

Using Tools→Validate Recipe File from PAC Display Configurator also does not reveal the exceeded limit.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
