"groov Box or Server cannot be reached" when groov View page uses tags from device configured with IPv6 address

Applies To:

groov View running on:

  • GROOV-AR1, GROOV-AR1-BASE, GROOV-AR1-SNAP
  • GROOV-AT1, GROOV-AT1-SNAP
  • GROOV-SVR-WIN, GROOV-SVR-WIN-BASE, GROOV-SVR-WIN-SNAP

Versions Affected:

All versions through R3.4c

Resolved In Version:

R3.5a

Symptoms:

If your groov  View page includes tags from a device that was configured using its IPv6 address*, all of the gadgets linked to that device will display a yellow triangle. The messages for those triangles will start with: The groov Box or Server cannot be reached.

This issue may also cause other gadgets on the same page to fail with the same error message—even if those tags come from devices that are configured with an IPV4 address**.

* IPv6 addresses look something like this: aa00::9b00:3c9d:ef47:4e33
** IPv4 addresses look something like this: 10.20.30.40

Workaround:

Don't use an IPv6 address. Ideally, just use a DNS name: groov can handle DNS addresses just fine, even on an IPv6 only network.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.
