PAC Display can't open user's guide ("Unable to determine the default PDF file viewer")

Note: This issue affects PAC Display Configurator and Runtime only when running on Microsoft® Windows® 10.

Windows 10 has two methods to associate files with a default application: via the Windows registry and via Windows Settings.

If the Windows registry doesn't associate PDF files with a PDF viewer application, PAC Display may not be able to open the user's guide from its Help menu (Help > Manuals > PAC Display User's Guide). Instead, PAC Display shows an "Unable to determine the default PDF file viewer" message.

This issue may happen even if the association has been made via Windows Settings (Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Choose default apps by file type).

Workaround:

You can open the PAC Display User's Guide directly from these folders:

Windows 10 (64-bit): C:\Program Files (x86)\Opto22\PAC Project 9.6\Manuals\1702_PAC_Display_Users_Guide.pdf
Windows 10 (32-bit): C:\Program Files\Opto22\PAC Project 9.6\Manuals\1702_PAC_Display_Users_Guide.pdf
