PAC Display may not start on some Windows PCs

Symptoms:

When you open PAC Display (Configurator or Runtime), you see the splash screen, and then the application disappears. There is no indication from Windows that the application stopped or was terminated; no dialog box, and no message in the Windows Event Log.

Cause: Windows includes a security feature called Data Execution Prevention (DEP). On newer Windows PCs this feature may be enabled for all applications by default, or you may have chosen to enable it for all applications. If it is, it will prevent PAC Display from opening.

Workaround:

You can disable DEP for non-Windows applications, or enable DEP exceptions for PAC Display.

Right-click My Computer > Properties and select Advanced System Settings. Or press the Windows key, start typing Advanced System Settings, and click it.
In the Advanced tab, under Performance, select Settings.
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
First try selecting just the top setting (essential Windows Programs and Services Only).
If this does not work, select the second option to add an exception. Click the Add button.
Navigate to the folder where PAC Project was installed.
Add any or all of the following, depending on whether you're using PAC Display Basic, PAC Display Professional, or both:

DisplayC.pro.exe
DisplayR.pro.exe
DisplayX.pro.exe
DisplayC.basic.exe
DisplayR.basic.exe
DisplayX.basic.exe

Resolution:
