SNAP analog module loses custom scaling configuration

Applies To:

Firmware for:

  • SNAP-PAC-R1, SNAP-PAC-R1-FM, SNAP-PAC-R1-W, SNAP-PAC-R1-B
  • SNAP-PAC-R2, SNAP-PAC-R2-FM, SNAP-PAC-R2-W
  • SNAP-PAC-EB1, SNAP-PAC-EB2, SNAP-PAC-EB1-W, SNAP-PAC-EB2-W
  • SNAP-PAC-SB1, SNAP-PAC-SB2

Versions Affected:

All versions through R9.4c

Resolved In Version:

R9.5a

Symptoms:

If an analog module on the rack has not been discovered by the brain or rack-mounted controller when configuration occurs, any custom configuration will be overwritten with defaults when the analog module first boots.

This situation can occur when marginal power supply voltage causes the brain to boot before the module does. If the situation occurs, configurations stored to flash, or strategies configured to Autorun, may attempt to configure points before the module is communicating with the brain.

Workaround:

  • Make sure that the proper power supply voltage is provided. See the Power Supplies Tech Note, form 1271.
  • Routinely check point configuration from your control strategy and reapply custom configuration when an incorrect configuration is detected.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue.

NOTE: To implement this solution, you must upgrade the firmware to R9.5a (or higher) in the I/O unit and in the control engine.
