Serial brains cannot communicate simultaneously to multiple applications with Ethernet Pass-Through mode

Applies To:

SNAP-PAC-S1
SNAP-PAC-S2
SNAP-PAC-S1-W
SNAP-PAC-S2-W

Versions Affected:

Problem was introduced in version: R8.0a
Resolution is included beginning in version: B8.5f, Build date 8/19/2011
Problem is fixed in version: R9.0a

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in version: R9.0a

Symptoms:

If a control engine is communicating to a SNAP-PAC-SB1 or SNAP-PAC-SB2 brain and a PAC Manager application also communicates to the brain using Ethernet Pass-Through mode, then communication between the control engine and the brain stops and the following errors are reported to the control engine Message Queue:

Another symptom of this bug is when a chart or task that accesses I/O on the same controller's serial port, locks up. For example, this could be a PAC Control strategy chart that accesses serial I/O. Or this could be when PAC Display or another host tries to access serial I/O via the controller's host task. In these situations, the only solution is to cycle power to the controller.
