PAC Controller unresponsive after burning SSD strategy to flash memory

Symptoms:

Burning a strategy to a controller's flash memory after a Secure Strategy Distribution (SSD) key has been programmed, causes the controller to become unresponsive after a power cycle. Following the power cycle, the STAT LED blinks green twice every 6 seconds.


Workaround:

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Connect a cross-over cable from your computer to the controller.
  2. Run PAC Terminal for Secure Strategy Distribution.
  3. Highlight the name of your controller, right-mouse click, and select Clear Private Key from Controller. The following dialog appears.
  4. [image1]

  5. Go through steps 1 and 2 of the dialog as instructed.
  6. In Step 3, select a different firmware revision from what was previously on the controller. Suggestion: Download the beta build which fixes this bug. Call Product Support to request this version.
  7. Select the Clear Private Key button.
  8. When the Clear Private Key status is complete, close the window.
  9. Switch the cross-over cable to the regular network cable you had been using.
  10. Cycle power to your controller.
  11. The controller will BootP. Set the controller's IP address.
  12. Re-program the controller with the SSD key.
  13. Now you can download your strategy to the controller and store it to flash memory.

This issue has been fixed.
