Graphics associated with chart states may not respond as expected after PAC Display upgrade

Applies To:

PAC Display Professional
PAC Display Basic

Versions Affected:

Problem was introduced in version: R8.1a
Problem is fixed in version: R8.2a

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in version: R8.2a

Symptoms:

PAC Display projects prior to version R8.1a with tags that are based on a chart's State dynamic attribute, may not work as expected when they are upgraded to version R8.1a or above. This change is not indicated during the comversion process.

Workaround:

Search for all discrete dynamic attributes related to a chart State and set them to the correct value-based dynamic attribute.
Chart state values are listed below.

When reading a chart state:
1 = stopped
2 = suspended
3 = running

When writing a chart state:
1 = stop
2 = suspend
3 = start
4 = continue

To search for the affected chart state tags:

  1. Get a list of the chart names. If you don't know all of the names,
    • Double click on any graphic in a window that will bring up the Graphics Dynamic Attribute window.

    • Highlight Send Value under Operator Driven Attribute, and click Edit.
    • From the Dynamc Atribute window, select the browse key [image1]
    • Highlight the Chart Item Type to view a list of the tags listed under the Item Name.
    • Record this list of chart names.
    • Click Cancel from the windows to get back to the starting window in Configurator.
  2. Select View→Find Tag.
  3. Check all of the boxes in Find Tag In... section.
  4. Verify the Highlight Tag box is checked under the Options section.
  5. Click the Find Next button.
  6. If the chart name is not used in the project, a short message is displayed.

  7. If the chart name is used in a Window, the window in which the graphic object appears is displayed and the object will have graphics handles around it. Double click the graphic and change its discrete configuration to a value configuration.
  8. Repeat this process until all chart state tags have been changed to a value type tag.
