Pentium 4 and newer computers cannot communicate with PCI-AC5 adapter cards

Applies To:

PCI-AC5

Versions Affected:

Problem was discovered in version: PN8939 on white EEPROM label
Adapter card revision 007212C
Problem is fixed in version: PN8939A on white EEPROM label
Adapter card revision 007212C

Resolved In Version:

Problem is fixed in version: PN8939A on white EEPROM label
Adapter card revision 007212C

Symptoms:

The PCI-AC5 adapter card is unresponsive to communication attempts from computers with Intel processors that are newer than Pentium IIIs (such as Pentium 4, Core, Core 2, etc.). The adapter card can be opened and detected by the PCI Locator utility, but not communicated to. Consequently, PCI Locator cannot make the LEDs blink on the PCI-AC5. A program that once worked on an older Pentium II or Pentium III computer for example, cannot communicate to the adapter card when it is run on a newer computer.

Resolution:

Opto 22 has resolved this issue. If you have a PCI-AC5 that has the described symptoms, contact Opto 22 Product Support to arrange for an RMA to re-program the adapter card EEPROM.
